The people started a massive witch hunt, but at this point Geralt was honestly starting to wonder whether that wasn't justified, having killed his way through a dozen sorcerers and sorceresses himself. Geralt went out of his way to help the nicest people available and cull the jerks regardless of politics. He felt that the non-humans had legitimate grievances and helped them whenever he could, even though he knew things would end in blood no matter what. Afterward? Well, in my playthrough, at least, he re-emerged guided by a strong sense of justice and a refusal to make distinctions between humans and non-humans when deciding how to apply that justice. Before the amnesia Geralt probably did think like that. See, I took full advantage of Geralt's amnesia there. He is -also- a racist and raped a family member I believe. He remembered the face of a single arbalist from a battle years ago, and immediately promoted him for his services. He fathered several incestuous bastards, but he's also an efficient ruler, friendly to his soldiers, remembering faces and promoting based on merit. That king a the start of the game is also a good example. I saved the woman, but by the credits I realized that I let my need to be heroic blind me to the long term effects.
Or do you let the woman die, kill the guy who does it, and when he's replaced the place becomes a better place to live for all the inhabitants. Or do you let him go with his crime and ensure stability in a kingdom for several more years, at the cost of human decency.ĭo you save the elven woman burning to death.
And deprive the northern kingdom of a powerfull leader to rally behind and instigate a succession crisis. And doing what is the best and what feels right can be very difficult.ĭo you kill the racist, sexist bastard who raped a fellow soldier and said she should have enjoyed it.
